Gwen Urie has been a Dog Trainer and Canine Behavioral Consultant for over 15 years, training dogs and teaching their people the skills necessary to make living with their dogs positive, productive and fun! Working with dogs was an early calling for her, starting as a kennel assistant at a local veterinary hospital when she was in her early teens. She continued her work with dogs as a veterinary technician, a kennel manager, teaching training classes and conducting private in-home sessions. She has been working with and around dogs for over 30 years! Gwen is an expert in crate training, housebreaking, leash walking, basic obedience, clicker training and behavior modification. Gwen has raised over 100 puppies, has shown and handled her own dogs and others in the AKC conformation show ring and taught Canine Good Citizen classes and is a Professional Member of APDT (Association of Professional Dog Trainers). She raised dogs to live “as family” in Nursing Homes. Part of a bigger nationwide effort called “The Eden Alternative,” with a mission to improve the lives of older adults lacking close family support.
