Locations Served: Our training center is located on our 80-acre campus in Fairplay, MD, 5 miles south of Hagerstown. We serve MD, VA, WV, PA and Washington DC, and beyond, and dog owners attend our training workshops and access our private behavior consultation services from across the country. Trainers attend our trainer academies from all over the world, and our seminar services are also available worldwide.
 
At Peaceable Paws we use force-free, non-confrontational, dog-friendly methods based on the science of behavior and learning.We offer small group Good Manners classes and advanced training classes as well as Behavior Modification (including aggression)and private training, at our training center or in your home. Group classes are limited to a maximum of 6; new classes begin monthly. Our popular "Train the Trainer" academies are now in Year 16, with more than 500 trainer-graduates from across the United States and as far away as the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Singapore. Committed dog owners are welcome to attend academies, as well as professional trainers and would-be trainers. Trainers who complete three different Academies are Pat Miller Certified Trainers (PMCTs). Pat Miller was named in 2015 by Dog Fancy Magazine as one of 45 Dog Trainers Who Have Changed the World, and in 2018 was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. We also offer 1, 2 and 3-day workshops for dog owners and trainers: Shaping, Nose Games, Reactive Rover Weekends, Copy That, and more. All classes are held on our 80-acre campus in Fairplay, MD, 5 miles south of Hagerstown. All workshops and academies are taught by Pat Miller, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, owner of Peaceable Paws, training editor for Whole Dog Journal, and author of "The Power of Positive Dog Training," "Positive Perspectives," "Positive Perspectives 2," "Play With Your Dog," "Do-Over Dogs," "How to Foster Dogs," and "Beware of the Dog." We offer Affiliate and Apprentice programs, a Behavior Assessment Training program for shelter staff and volunteers and limited opportunities for week-long private internships.
