The Grateful Dog We are passionate about utilizing reinforcement and promoting effective dog training. As a certified dog trainer (CPDT-KA), we are dedicated to using function-based assessments and training programs that are tailored to each individual dog's needs. We stay up to date on the latest dog behavior research and utilize established scientific methods to ensure the best outcomes for the dogs in our care. In addition to working with pet owners, we also partner with nonprofits and shelters to help dogs most in need. Join us in creating a happy and cohesive relationship between you and your dog! Certifications: Designations: CPDT-KA Job Title: Head trainer Training Philosophy: We use the constructional approach, which focuses on building behavior repertoires, the absence of which is the problem. This differs from a pathological approach that focuses on the elimination of “problem behavior”. Locations Served: Los Angeles Languages: English Alex has worked with dogs professionally since 2018 when he began his career as a professional dog walker. Driven by a desire to improve the life of dogs, he began volunteering with various animal rescues in the Los Angeles area. During that time, he has learned to work with dogs of varying ages, temperaments, and medical conditions.
Alex has a strong desire to learn and is always looking for opportunities to grow his knowledge about dogs, equipment, and animal husbandry. He is an active member and top contributor of the CAAWT group (Constructional Approach to Animal Welfare and Training), which is an online constructional community where members support each other to think, plan, design, implement, and revise constructional programs to solve various behavioral challenges, improve our relationships with animals, and animal welfare.
Alex continues to look for opportunities to grow his knowledge about dogs and dog behavior. He has compassion for all animals but a special place in his heart for dogs that have difficulty communicating their needs and need extra patience and understanding.
