Hi! I'm Tatiana. I am a knowledge-assessed certified professional dog trainer, or CPDT-KA. I earned this highly-regarded credential from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers® (CCPDT®). My involvement in dog training began in 2013 by a chance encounter with a shelter dog, named Tyga, from St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and Dog Training School in Madison, NJ where I volunteered. The staff at St. Hubert's asked if I would be willing to take Tyga through an eight-week obedience training to increase his chance of adoption. Tyga was a great dog and of course, I said yes. So I wasn't surprised that Tyga soon found his "furever" home, However, since we were still taking classes I found myself without my four-legged training partner. And, that's when the trainer teaching the class suggested that I assist her. Her recommendation opened a whole new world for me. And, as they say, the rest is history. Well... not quite. In addition to volunteering as an assistant classroom trainer ever since and gaining experience in teaching basic obedience and specialty training classes, I served as a volunteer behavior assistant at the Association for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Behavior Rehabilitation Center for fearful dogs, also in Madison, NJ. I found the experience of working with dogs life-changing and learned that it truly was my passion. That’s why I decided to pursue dog training full-time. In addition to being a dog trainer, I am a professional responder for the ASPCA’s Anti Cruelty Behavior Team. In this role, I work with canine victims of cruelty and neglect, and contribute to rehabilitating them for future potential adoptions as family pets. It’s a challenging, but also a very rewarding experience. I am an active member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) where I serve on the Marketing Communications Committee. I hold a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications and Leadership (MASCL) from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, and Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Public Relations (BSJ) from West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV.
