APDT Member Since 2016 Maria G. Huntoon Canine Consulting Services Our holistic approach handles canine behavior concerns from the inside out, offering private sessions in your home and giving you to tools to find harmony with your best four-legged friend! Certifications: Training Philosophy: As in any relationship, understanding one's needs, personality, lifestyle and how they fit with yours are key to finding harmony. I treat each team as the individuals they are and help dog owners understand how to find this balance for themselves. Locations Served: The Greater Savannah, GA area, including but not limited to: Pooler, Rincon, Richmond Hill, Guyton, Hinesville, Tybee Island, and everywhere in between. Will also travel for a slight surcharge. After serving various roles in training guide dogs for nine years, I have a unique perspective on the human-canine bond and the relationships that are cultivated through understanding and effective communication. I want that same kind of bond and good behavior with my pet dogs, and my clients do too. I look at canine behavior in a holistic manner: if you go deep inside and work your way out, you will find a better balance and long-term success. My methods are all based on respect and positive reinforcement to ensure a healthy relationship between a handler and a dog. By giving my clients a thorough understanding of canine body language, who their individual dog is and why he does what he does, how to meet his needs in combination with their own, and how to become a respectable leader in their dog's life, my clients learn to take responsibility for themselves to cultivate a lifelong bond with their best four-legged friend.
All of my sessions are private lessons unless otherwise requested; I have done group sessions with family members and friends on request. I work with my clients in their homes, where they and their dogs are the most comfortable, or we take "field trips" to work elsewhere when the lesson requires it based on the lesson at hand. All sessions are built to suit the needs of the individual, and rate packages are available to fit any budget.
I specialize in deeply emotional behaviors such as anxiety, hyperactivity, fear/lack of confidence and aggression. I also offer behavior training Q&A sessions and demonstrations for local organizations such as shelters, rescue groups, and veterinary hospitals to better help staff members understand canine behavior pertaining to their field.
