Central Pennsylvania (Previous instructor at Manners N' More Dog Training School and Mount Nittany Dog Training Club) Positive training techniques can be used to strengthen this bond. The basic idea is to manipulate the consequences for the animal in a manner they find fun to get the kinds of behaviors that are desired. Behavior is reward driven. Through repetition and reward, a dog can learn just about any behavior.
Positive reinforcement training is being used by the top dog trainers of our generation. Not only is this method used for dogs, but for other mammals such as the orcas and dolphins that you see performing their amazing feats. It’s also being used in zoos to train animals medical behaviors so that it is easier when determining their well-being. This type of training allows your dog to problem solve and think out of the box, helping them understand what you are asking them to do and what is expected of them. This type of training helps establish a lasting, positive bond as well as clear and consistent communication between you and your dog. The dogs learn the behaviors quickly and enthusiastically as they are being rewarded for a job well done rather than forced to comply. Training should be fun and rewarding for both the dog and the owner.
