The Better Companion was launched by Claudia Sihler, CPDT in July 2002. It was her intention to provide professional assistance in training animals using positive, science-based, fear-free and motivational methods to communicate with our beloved companions in Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska. She also wished to meet the need for private, individualized treatment to solve a wide variety of behavioral problems and to help people in exercising/ tiring their dogs. Her love for agility soon set The Better Companion on a course for offering agility classes. October 2005 we opened our newly built training facility and now have a permanent home for our classes. This includes an indoors 40' x 60' matted facility, an outside fenced grass yard of about 100' x 120' and a snuffle park to help dogs relax before they enter the building. We added Play'n Fun Doggy Daycare, Social Hour Open Play Times, Nose Work and Treibball to our variety of dog activities. The Better Companion is now a team of trainers, play supervisors, office staff and assistants, all following the same force-free teaching/ learning principles that we are known for.
