Calmer Canines I have 17 years of experience using positive reinforcement-based techniques. I offer private lessons both online and in-person, focusing on family dog training from pregnancy/adoption/fostering all the way through teenagehood. I also offer training for reactive and/or fearful dogs, and basic-to-advanced pet obedience. Certifications: Designations: CPDT-KA, FPPE Job Title: Company Owner & Certified Professional Dog Trainer Training Equipment: Clickers (optional), flat buckle and martingale collars, harnesses, 4-6ft leashes, 15ft leashes. Training Philosophy: Like people, dogs learn best when their emotional needs are met and you teach them what you want, versus waiting for them to make a mistake and punishing them for it. I prevent problems when possible and teach replacement behaviors when needed. Locations Served: Online private and group training offered throughout the USA. In-person outdoor training offered in select cases in Costa Mesa, Corona del Mar, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Orange, Santa Ana, South Coast Metro, Tustin, North Tustin, and Villa Park. Languages: English I have been training dogs and their human counterparts for 17 years in the form of both group classes and private lessons, and I have mentored about a dozen trainers. I currently offer online, in-home, and on-location private training consultations and lesson plans.
I focus on using only humane, positive reinforcement-based training techniques and environmental enrichment to effectively solve a number of training issues from raising puppies and working with out-of-control adolescents, to working with leash-reactive dogs and fearful dogs. I have extensive experience working with expectant families and those with young children as a Licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, and I also offer The Family Dog Private Training Program.
In addition to training and behavior, I strive to stay up-to-date on dog nutrition as well since food can affect behavior. I regularly attend webinars, online classes, seminars, and conferences in order to maintain the most current education possible.
