Training Philosophy: Like people, dogs learn best when their emotional/safety needs are met and you teach them what you want, versus punishing them for mistakes. I prevent problems when possible and teach replacement behaviors when needed.

I have been training dogs and their human counterparts for 17 years in the form of both group classes and private lessons, and I have mentored about a dozen trainers. I currently offer online, in-home, and on-location private training consultations and lesson plans. I focus on using only humane, positive reinforcement-based training techniques and environmental enrichment to effectively solve a number of training issues from raising puppies and working with out-of-control adolescents, to working with leash-reactive dogs and fearful dogs. I have extensive experience working with expectant families and those with young children as a Licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, a Dial Guide, and a Family Dog Mediator. In addition to training and behavior, I strive to stay up-to-date on dog nutrition as well since food can affect behavior. I regularly attend webinars, online classes, seminars, and conferences in order to maintain the most current education possible.
