Trainer Profile

Clicker basics in private, group lessons. Experience with deaf & blind dogs. Special class for dogs in a rescue program.

Certifications:

Training Equipment: I recommend a light 6' leash and a basic collar. In some cases, I recommend a Gentle Leader or a Snoot Loop. No prongs, chokes or shock collars as they can cause pain which makes it harder to teach.

Training Philosophy: As there are many ways for the dog to be wrong, we focus on positively reinforcing the correct choice. We make it the best possible choice so that the dog wants to keep doing this.

Locations Served: Houston and the surrounding areas.

I trained for PetCo for over 8 years. There I worked at 4 different stores only teaching basic obedience classes (and a fifth store for private lessons). I also volunteered at the Houston SPCA with their Good Manners program which trained older dogs to give them an edge in hopes they would be adopted. I joined the Association of Pet Dog Trainers in 2000. Since 2003, I have volunteered for the AKC’s education department at the Reliant Dog Show where I speak about where to find your new dog, how to prepare for that dog and kids plus dogs together. In 2007, I left PetCo and started my own training business. In November 2007, I passed the rigorous Certified Professional Dog Trainer test.
