Languages: English Obedience Training: Obedience training as it applies to Canine Behavior Consulting, Inc. consists of very basic training, such as teaching dogs to reliably respond to basic commands such as "come", "sit", "down", "stand", "stay", "leave it", "drop it", and "off". Obedience training is often a prerequisite for, or component of, other training such as manners training. With most methods dogs are trained one command at a time. Though there may or may not be a specific word attached to it, walking properly on a leash, or leash control, is often the first training required prior to learning other commands.
Behavior Modification Therapy: Behavior modification simply means changing or modifying behavior. Most commonly, the term behavior modification is used when talking about addressing complex or serious behavior problems such as:
- Unruliness, including mounting, tugging at
clothes, and biting
- Separation anxiety
- Aggression
- Fearfulness
- Noise/sound phobias
- Destructiveness
- Male marking in the house
Barking:
o Territorial
o Alarm
o Attention-seeking
o Fear-induced
o Excitement
o Frustration
Dogs want to please and need jobs to do. Training gives them the opportunity to do both. Well-trained dogs have more freedom allowing them to go more places and do more things because they know how to behave. Well-trained dogs that are secure in their place within their family packs are comfortable and confident. They know what's expected of them. Well-trained dogs know their limits and who their leaders are thus freeing them from the responsibility of running the household and making decisions. They're free to be loving companions; animals - what they were born to be and what they always wanted to be in the first place!
* NOTE: Training services not offered by Canine Behavior Consulting, Inc. include the training of: Certified Therapy Dogs, Patrol Dogs, Bomb Dogs, Drug Dogs, Mine Dogs, and Dual Purpose Patrol & Drug Dogs.
