Training Equipment: We use what the dog loves: this can be food, playtime, lovin', etc. We use clickers, regular collars. We DO NOT use choke collars, shock collars, or prong collars.

 

Training Philosophy: Dedicated to helping frustrated dogs teach their owners to listen! Training should be fun for you and the dog. If it's not fun, we're not doing something right.

You'll work with a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and learn how to get your dog to listen to you. You'll enjoy working with your dog...and your dog will enjoy working with you. SDU offers convenience: group courses, private in-home training, and owner-absent training. **GROUP COURSES** Join a group of dog-lovers and spend an hour each week teaching your dog. Class size is limited to ensure personalized attention from your training coach. We have classes just for puppies, for adult dogs, for dogs with specific problems (pulling on leash or jumping, for example), and "Out & About" classes (you'll explore the downtown Frederick area with your dog during class!). **PRIVATE IN-HOME COACHING** Does your work- and home-life keep you too busy to attend a class? SDU will come to you! The ultimate in personalization, private, in-home coaching is tailored to your family, your dog, and your needs. SDU creates customized training plans and helps implement them. **OWNER-ABSENT TRAINING** For the severely time-crunched family, owner-absent training is the perfect answer. A certified pet dog trainer will come to your house and work with your dog while you're at work! Each session is 45 - 60 minutes and is customized, just as the private, in-home coaching. Clients will need to meet with the trainer before the sessions begin, and periodically throughout the training in order to understand the dog training process. SDU's training methodology utilizes positive reinforcement for all services. We will never use a choke, prong, or shock collar on your dog, nor will we yell, shake, or physically manipulate your dog.
