I believe that, unfortunately, misunderstandings surrounding canine behavior have led to behavior modification methods (or a lack of implementation of proper methods) that are not only ineffective but can actually worsen the behavior they are intending to change or cause behavioral problems in other areas of the dog’s life. That’s why I feel it is so rewarding to provide pet owners with a way to communicate with and understand their canine companions. A dog’s body language and physical cues, environment, exercise, nutrition, routine, and socialization history, and typical behavioral patterns must always be taken into account and considered to ensure that their needs are being met. Training is the most effective when all of these factors are taken into consideration to make sure the dog is getting the best foundation to start with.
