I have been training dogs for almost a decade, and since 2011, I have been training dogs in the shelter environment. In 2013, I began taking on private training clients after completing the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training (KPA). My love of dog training started with my own rescues, one of whom was a breeder dog from a puppy mill and the other developed aggression as a result of vaccinosis. Learning how to train and modify behavior, applying that knowledge to help my shy dog build confidence and my aggressive dog be safe with people and other dogs spurred my desire to work with shelter dogs and helps me connect with my private clients. I have a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology and bachelors degree in psychology. I also have extensive experience as an instructional designer, college professor, corporate trainer, facilitator and coach. I completed all of the course work for my doctorate in International and Multicultural Education. I love learning for learning’s-sake, and am continually developing my skills and knowledge of canines and regularly attend seminars and read science-based canine literature that informs my training and behavior work.
